Don’t be surprised if I don’t answer my phone at 7 am.

working-late.jpgAs some of my clients may already know, I’m not that responsive before 8 am. Sometimes I sound like I’m speaking a foreign language before 10 am - an ancient dialect characterized by grunts, pops, and clicks.

This “may” be because I often stay up very late working on client marketing projects. I’m also working on our company’s internet marketing projects. The creative juices have always seemed to really start flowing after 8 at night.

Up until this morning when I read a particular sidebar article in the latest edition of Wired I’ve not made my work habits public but as of today I feel justified…

Night owls are more creative.

Artists, writers, and coders typically fire on all cylinders by crashing near dawn and awakening at the crack of noon. In one study, “evening people” almost universally slam-dunked a standardized creativity test. Their early-bird brethren struggled for passing scores.

So if you’re calling me at 6:45 am and wondering why I’m not answering your calls like that particularly eager stock broker of yours, well - just take comfort knowing that I’m thinking of you well into the night!
